The Northern Territory Government is in the process of planning and designing the future development of the larger Indigenous remote communities of the Northern Territory to become economic and service delivery centres for regions.
Once completed, these Major Remote Towns, located from the Arnhem coast to Central Australia’s Western Desert, will offer services, facilities and infrastructure. People from the surrounding regions will work and shop in the towns and access schools, police stations, courts, health services, recreational facilities, aged care and disability facilities, transport services and the internet. The towns will have the necessary infrastructure to provide water, sewerage and electricity services and good road connections for people from regional communities.
